So, today, I wanted my kids to try something I used to have when I was a kid… champorado!

Champorado is a chocolate rice porridge usually eaten for breakfast in many Filipino homes… it’s usually eaten with a dash of fresh milk (I personally preferred powered milk though) and tuyo flakes (popular dried fish).

Well, they had a few spoonfuls before asking for some cereal πŸ˜…

Here’s the recipe I used:

  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup malagkit rice (sticky rice)
  • 5 tsokolate tablea (cocoa powder would do)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (I used coconut sugar)
  1. In a large pot, boil water.
  2. Add rice to boiling water… keep stirring.
  3. Add the tablea and sugar.
  4. Mix constantly until thick.
  5. Serve with milk and tuyo flakes on top.

Keep stirring….

Until thick…

*We put a little ginger in the oil when we cook tuyo to help lessen the fishy smell 😊

Juggling being a mother of 3 while trying to stay fab at 40! Okay, I'm just a regular mom trying to stay sane!
